A Work at Home Mom Shares Tips on Freelancing and Productivity

Content Creation

As a blogger, it is your responsibility to create fresh, relevant and exciting content for your readers. If we leave your blog unupdated for long periods of time, your readers will think that your blog has died.

I should know. I was once a delinquent blogger.

A few years ago, when I was fresh out of high school, I maintained a personal blog that has gained some measure of success. I enjoyed the popularity, for a while. Somehow life got in the way and I did not update as often as I used to, as often as my readers would have expected from me. Then my readers began to visit less and less, until I fell off the blogosphere.

Somehow the death of my angsty teenage blog came as some sort of relief to me because it was so full of the childish whining and college drama that I would rather forget. LOL.

However, if your blog is something worth reading, something helpful and relevant then NEVER LET IT DIE A SLOW DEATH. Keep your blog updated with fresh content and remember to post entries that will serve your readers. Make your blog useful to people and they will surely come back for more.

How do you keep your blog from dying? How do you build your blog’s content?

There are so many things which can inspire you to write. Here are some of the ways that I have personally tried and found effective.

Personal Experiences and Lessons

There is no better teacher than life. Lessons learned from actual experiences are lessons that will be remembered for the rest of your life. These are things worth sharing.

If you are a new mom, you might want to chronicle your daily discoveries about your child and about motherhood. Sharing such stories will help expectant moms in more ways than you can imagine.

If you are a teacher, you might want to share some successful activities you have organized for your students. Fellow teachers and teaching assistants will thank you for making their classes more interesting.

Whoever you are and whatever your life’s work may be, you have something valuable to share. Your life is one gold mine of ideas. These are the things that will matter to everyone.

Read, Read and Read Some More

When you read, you learn new things which may interest other people as well. When you read the news, you will certainly form a personal opinion regarding the news you have just read. Blog about it. It does not matter if it aligns with your readers’ personal views. In some ways, having a different opinion from your audience will pave the way for a mature, healthy discussion. In the end, you get stimulate your readers minds, too, and it is certainly great whenever your blog post triggers an active exchange of opinions.

Go out! Live Life. Then Write About It

Just as you can share your past, you can share your present. You might only have so much to tell from your past. So what can you do? Make something out of your everyday life and share it to people. Little things, little successes from your day-to-day activities can be very interesting, especially when shared with brevity and honesty.

These are just three things in which you can keep your blog alive. Build your blog content from the things you have experienced as well as the new things you have learned. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and learn something new everyday. These things are not just tools to make your blog interesting, but also ways to make your life richer and more enjoyable to tell and share to your readers.

Give your readers something to look forward to. Give a piece of yourself to them. Share knowledge with them. The world is full of things you can blog about.
