Dark Room will help you
focus on your writing.
There are so many things you can do with a computer, all at the same time, that certain high priority tasks can be affected. I do believe that multitasking is great, when well-manged. The thing is, web workers can be distracted because of the many activities which can be done with a computer and the internet – instant messaging, social networking, bloghopping. These distractions can be very hard to resist.
If your work is centered in creating content, then you must always, always be focused. Writing web content, sales pitches, feature articles and blog posts is no joke. I know this because this is what I do for a living. Writing can be draining, that sometimes distractions are most welcome. But of course that is unproductive (and dangerous, because you can lose your job idling around :p).
So here’s a text editor that I think will be of help to writers and bloggers like myself – Dark Room.
Dark Room is a full screen, distraction free, writing environment. Unlike standard word processors that focus on features, Dark Room is just about you and your text.
I use Dark Room all the time. Having only text against a black background helps me focus on the article I have to finish. Actually, this post was first written in Dark Room before I pasted in on the WordPress editor.
If your primary work is writing, I highly suggest that you try out Dark Room. Let me know how it works for you!

Hi – Great post, and some valuable tips, too. I find that certain times of the day are better for me to write at, than others. Usually this is 1-3am, local time. Minimum distractions, even from overseas buddies, etc and its the quietness I like. I’m checking this Darkroom out, now! Thanks.

Hi Chris, thanks for the tip! I have to agree, there are certain times of the day when I am more creative, or at least there are certain times that are more conducive to work and productivity. I hope Dark Room would be of help to you!
